Review: Creeps: A Tale of Murder and Mayhem (2013)

EDIT: apparently, I was wrong in saying that the people behind this movie were first-time filmmakers. The guy who sent me this film to watch tells me that one of the writers, Johnny Dickie, apparently made another film before this, a horror anthology called Slaughter Tales. However, he is a teenager, so you could replace my comment about "first-time filmmakers" with "young filmmakers". Would I call Jack Mulvanerty or Johnny Dickie the next Emily Hagins? Probably not, but their little romp certainly was inspired. And regardless of quality, getting a feature-length film made at that age is certainly no easy task. So props to you, and continue improving.

Review: The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)

I thought for a while about doing a Top 5/10/20/whatever list of my favorite movies of the year... but then I figured "screw that, I'm not giving in to that film critic cliche." And besides, I've got a huge list of movies I've seen that I have to catch up on writing reviews for, and at least two of them would certainly make my list of the best movies of the year. The first of them is...

Review: A Fish Called Wanda (1988)

Happy Thanksgiving! In honor of the day, I've picked out a great movie to watch if you don't want to fight the Black Friday crowds tomorrow.

Review Double Feature: The Hunger Games (2012) and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013)

I've been slow on the reviews lately -- seriously, is there that little coming out in theaters? But then, I have a huge DVD collection, so that's no excuse. To make up for it, a double feature of the first two Hunger Games films.

The Hunger Games (2012)

Rated PG-13 for intense violent thematic material and disturbing images - all involving teens

Review: Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Halloween's coming up in two days, so what better film to watch and review than the Citizen Kane of the zombie genre? Furthermore, I reviewed the remake of Dawn of the Dead a couple of years ago, and I was wondering if the original held up as much as I remembered it when I was writing that review. So I threw it in to find out. The answer? Read on...

Review Double Feature: The Family (2013) and Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)

Another double feature this weekend. I went to see the action-comedy The Family starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Tommy Lee Jones, and then I ducked into the bathroom long enough that I could sneak into Insidious: Chapter 2, the sequel to 2011's smash horror hit. Which of these films should you go see?

Review: Insidious (2011)

With its sequel coming out this Friday, I decided to take a look at a film that I've been hearing everybody raving about these past couple of years, but which, for some reason, I never got around to seeing.

Review: You're Next (2013)

So... Labor Day weekend. The slowest weekend of the whole year for the box office. We're getting: a car-chase flick starring Selena Gomez as a street-wise "tough chick", a One Direction concert movie, and a suspense thriller that I've barely seen advertised. Pass. Instead, let's take a look at a really good movie that came out last week and needs some more love from moviegoers...

Review Double Feature: Kick-Ass (2010) and Kick-Ass 2 (2013)

Much like I did with the first two Hangover films, I'm reviewing both Kick-Ass films today, having seen the sequel (out in theaters this past weekend) first and then gone back to rewatch the original. Does the original still hold up from how awesome I remember it being, and does the sequel compare well to the original? Read on...

In all my time with this blog of mine, I have never reviewed a video game before. Well, that changes now, because I just got done with the DLC pack for last year's Assassin's Creed III, an alternate history story titled The Tyranny of King Washington. How was it? Read on...

Review: The Lone Ranger (2013)

In recognition of America's Independence Day, what better film to review than a new release in that great American genre, the Western?
